ALEKS stands for Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces, and is a Web-based learning system covering a wide range of full courses used by school systems and colleges around the world.
Students at some universities are required to have a Aleks login to take the Mathematics Placement Exam. The exam assess a student’s prerequisite knowledge for course placement in class.
Course placement will be most accurate if time is spent practicing in the Learning Module beforehand. In addition, students practicing in the Learning Module have time to study before taking an exam.
The only purpose of the assessment is to give an accurate measure of the student’s current mathematical skills so that counselors and instructors will have a better understanding of where the student should be placed.
System access uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn’t know in a course settings. This is beneficial to both the student and the teacher.
You will complete a tutorial to learn how to use your Aleks login prior to beginning an assessment. Your school highly encourage you to take time to complete the entire tutorial before starting.
